Med Spa of Virginia offers two laser techniques for
Enhanced Skin Rejuvenation: the ND-YAG Gemini and the
Venus-i.
GEMINI ND-YAG Laser Skin Rejuvenation
The Gemini ND-YAG Laser Skin Rejuvenation,
a revolutionary skin treatment using multiple laser wavelengths to eliminate
and reduce pigmentation, broken capillaries, wrinkles and improve
facial toning. It is most often performed on the face
and neck, but the chest, hands, arms and legs can be treated as well.
What are the benefits?
Laser Skin Rejuvenation is ideal for eliminating a variety
of problems including:
. broken capillaries . wrinkles . rosacea . spider veins
. age spots/sun spots . large pores . freckles . flushing
. pigmentation variances
How does it work?
Laser light is absorbed by pigmented areas where it is converted to heat, causing a
breakup in the pigment. In broken capillaries and spider veins, the laser energy is
absorbed by the pigment in the blood and collapses the unwanted vein. For wrinkles
and skin toning, the laser stimulates collagen growth. We will analyze your skin
condition and help you select the most effective treatment for you.

When will you see results?
Effects are cumulative. After the first treatment you will see improvements to broken
capillaries, small facial veins and some pigmented areas within a few days. Other
improvements such as wrinkle reduction and toning will be more subtle and may take
one to three months. Friends may suggest that you look more rested. With each subsequent
treatment, subtle changes will accumulate until you have achieved the improvement you desire.
How often can you have it done?
A series of three to six treatments, spaced two to four weeks apart, is our standard
recommendation. Occasionally, more treatments may be needed for certain individuals or
conditions. Periodic occasional maintenance treatments may be prescribed for optimal,
lasting results.
What can you expect immediately post-treatment?
Immediately following the procedure you may experience some redness, swelling and/or a
slight darkening of pigmented areas. The redness and swelling usually dissipate within
one to three days however, darkened pigmentation may persist and peel lightly for up
to one week. Makeup can be applied to the treated area immediately, if necessary.
Additionally, hair growth may be impaired in the treated area, although it is not
the intended purpose of this particular treatment. It is extremely important to
apply a moisturizer with SPF30 sun block and avoid sun exposure on a daily basis
to prevent additional sun damage.
VENUS-i Laser System
The Venus -iT Laser System is a new, portable, light weight, high power
Erbium:YAG laser system with applications in dermatology, cosmetic and plastic
surgery, general surgery, ENT and ophthalmology. An ideal laser for skin
resurfacing, it is the smallest, yet among the most powerful, Erbium:YAG
lasers on the market. It provides an ideal treatment for younger patients
with mild wrinkles or moderate sun damage, and can be used on both facial
and non-facial skin such as the hands.
We are pleased to offer Weekend Laser Peels using the erbium laser wavelength to
improve damaged skin, eliminate age spots and reduce fine wrinkles and superficial
scarring. the Weekend Peel will give you more dramatic results but you will need to
plan for 2 to 3 days of "downtime."
How does it work?
Laser light is highly absorbed by water in the superficial layer of the skin. This results
in ablation or reduction of the superficial skin.
